“Our wedding reflected both of our personal styles – modern and romantic. We chose the McNay Art Museum in my hometown, San Antonio, for our ceremony and reception. The McNay was the first modern art museum in Texas, housed in an old Spanish-style mansion and surrounded by gorgeous gardens and landscape. We immediately knew it was the right setting for us.
Our ceremony took place outside in front of the a beautiful fountain right before the sun set. Despite the fact that we had over two hundred people watching us, we wanted our ceremony to be feel very personal and intimate. We worked very closely with our rabbi to craft the ceremony and wrote our own vows. I walked down a side aisle rather than the center, we faced each other the entire time, and our wedding party sat on either side of the chuppah with our parents. Our chuppah was one of my very favorite design elements. The floral mix and overall design were stunning, but what I loved most was how it fit into the landscape in such an organic way, working in harmony with the setting. After being pronounced husband and wife, we walked down the center aisle while the string quartet played “All You Need is Love.”
Following the ceremony, the sky turned the most gorgeous shade of dark blue, and everyone moved into the courtyard for cocktails and appetizers. Everything about the cocktail hour felt magical. An all-female mariachi band lined a set of stairs in the courtyard. Footed white milk glass vases holding our floral mix sat on cocktail tables. Lights wrapped around the trees sparkled. Zach and I both love to eat, so our food was very important to us and I wanted to make sure we included a taste of South Texas. The food in the courtyard was amazing. Guests enjoyed passed grilled lamb chops with mango chutney and tortilla soup sips, along with delicious tastes from three food stations. We had two quesadilla stations where tortillas were made on-site and then filled with either brie, mango and sliced avocado or spinach and monterrey jack cheese. The ceviche station was not just about the food, but the design. The ceviche was presented in a large, lit up ice bowl, surrounded by avocados (which the ceviche was served in), and a garland of our floral mix. Silver frames held food signs with the same calligraphy and hand-painted flowers as our invitations, programs, and menus. Prickly pear margaritas and Coronitas with limes were also passed, and our cocktail napkins read different fun facts about us and our relationship. When it was time for dinner and dancing, the mariachi band led guests to the reception.
Our reception decor was absolutely breathtaking. Possibly the most unique element of our decor was the tall, 48-foot-long floral centerpiece that ran down one long head table in the center of the room. More flowers overflowing from vases, pillar candles in vases, and votives in mercury glass holders also lined this head table. The square and circle tables on either side of the long head table were decorated with vases overflowing with flowers and candles. Our table numbers were hand-painted on mirrors. We chose ghost chairs, which were modern, yet elegant in this historic space. Our guests enjoyed more food, cocktails, and music performed by a wonderful band, TOP, and danced the night away. Because breakfast tacos are as important in San Antonio as the Alamo, they were passed as a “midnight snack.”
Sunday was Daylight Savings Time, so when the night came to an end, guests were handed clock cookies, tied with a ribbon that said “Spring Forward.” Guests lined the walkway outside the Mcnay and tossed lavender, our favorite fragrance, as Zach and I headed to our departure car.
While the style, food, music and decor made the wedding unique, what made our wedding so special was the fact that I was marrying the love of my life. The biggest, most important compliment we received after the wedding was not about the flowers or the band, but from a friend who wrote to say “I have never been to a wedding where it seemed the two people were so absolutely deeply in love in the way that you and Zach are…It is just so evident in the way you two look at each other that you have something so special, like a secret connection that no one else could possibly understand but we were all so lucky to peer into on your wedding day.” Our wedding was a truly magical celebration of our love and I will never forget how I felt on the day I married my best friend. ”

“There are so many unforgettable things about Montana & David’s wedding. Their ceremony was punctuated by both crying and laughing, all while Montana and David were surrounded by their closest friends seated on an altar/stage gorgeously arranged with lounge furniture. Montana gave herself away, and there is a proud beauty in that.
From her two amazing dresses to their (and everyone else’s) obvious and overwhelming joy at being married, this was a day and a night to remember.

“Most of all, I remember…”
When he proposed…It was at the top of Kennensaw Mountain in Atlanta where we had both visited a year prior.
With the sun setting behind us and the gorgeous Atlanta skyline directly in front of us, Will pointed out different buildings within the city skyline to distract me. As he grabbed the engagement ring out of his pocket. I was struggling to find a building he suggested I look at, he asked…”Can you see it now?” As I turned around to look at Will, the ring was dangling on his finger that he used to try to point me in the right direction. And with excitement, I responded, “YES!!” To this day, every time I think of that proposal I get a smile on my face.

We were in Sunday Mass with my whole family (Mom, Dad, siblings, etc.) and I looked over at him and said to myself “This is the man I am going to marry”. I had always known that he was an outstanding person and somebody I admired but at that moment I knew I was standing next to my future husband. He is sincere, patient, and kind. I am honored and proud to stand next to him for the rest of my life.

“Most of All, I Remember…”
We were so lucky to have such beautiful and perfect weather for our outdoor wedding. We had the best time with our family and friends. Austin and Ema (our dog children) were also there to celebrate with us and they definitely were busy and entertained looking out for squirrels at Laguna Gloria. Once the ceremony was over and the nerves wore off, it was time to have a nice and relaxing dinner and then dance the night away under a gorgeous full moon. We are so happy to have our beautiful wedding pictures to remember how much fun we had that night.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Michael and I grew up in Houston just a few blocks apart. We went to the same church and rival high schools, but didn’t catch each other’s eye until a bit later in life. Although he will tell you we shared a kiss in Austin while I was a Freshman at UT, I think it’s just wishful thinking on his part. I finished up school at Texas and went on to Law School at the University of Virginia, and Michael went on to the University of Mississippi and other adventures. He finally moved back to Houston a few years ago and we bumped into each other waiting in line for a planter’s punch at a tennis tournament. Sparks flew and I went home that night with a huge crush and a huge headache from all the punch. Although no phone numbers were exchanged that night, the next time we saw each other, we talked for hours and after I left for the evening, he ran out into the parking lot to chase me down for my phone number and one last hug goodnight. Our first date was a few days later. We went to his cousin’s birthday party together and he introduced me to the whole family. I’ll always remember him hesitating to make all the big introductions so early, and then looking at me and saying, “well, you’ll meet them soon anyway, why not tonight.” I was grinning ear to ear!
I think we were both pretty sure we’d found something special early on. I remember having some new relationship jitters and asking him whether he felt the same. He responded by saying that he wasn’t nervous at all because he knew what was going to happen. We’d keep seeing each other, and I would fall in love with him, and that was that. And it was. Two and a half years later he got down on one knee and made it official. We’re so excited about our upcoming wedding in Cabo San Lucas and couldn’t be more thrilled that Jennifer will be there to capture the big day.
