“Most of All, I Remember…” tm2009

“I was not nervous; I was giddy–all day long. Mind-boggling to believe that hundreds of dear friends and family members went to such efforts to gather for one evening to share in the simple fact that Blake and I fell in love.

I remember walking down the aisle, Dad on one side, Mom on the other, looking at smiling faces. I remember seeing the face of the girl that set us up some 12 1/2 years ago. I remember seeing the face of my grandpa, so proud of his only granddaughter. I remember seeing the face of my high school friends who surprised me by flying in from Ireland. And I especially remember seeing the face of my nearly-husband-to-be standing on the alter, and thinking, “I will never get sick of looking at that gorgeous man.” And he is even better-looking on the inside.

The mariachi band played “Volver, Volver”, our guests wrote words of encouragement and advice to us, and we said our vows–I remember our celebration dance when they announced us as Husband and Wife.

The reception was a blur of loud tunes, gyrating moves, tasty foods, dramatic skies, twinkly lights, sentimental toasts, and blissful laughter. In a flash, we were walking through the parted crowd, saying our goodbyes, giving our final hugs, and driving off in our getaway car.

I am certain there will never be another evening so merry, another moment so joyous, another celebration so filled with love–and this fact makes me very, very happy. I remember perfect bliss.”–Abigail
