“Most of all, I Remember…” (TM2009)

“Waking up the morning of our wedding and feeling so so excited and glad we were getting married at noon…I was so ready and thrilled to marry Matt and I didn’t want to wait a minute longer.  While my sister and mom had their hair and make up done I remember watching Father of the Bride with my dad…very special moment.  The hours leading up to the wedding were filled with friends, dresses, make up and excitement but mostly I felt calm.  I remember right before walking down the aisle I suddenly felt overwhelmed by the very full church…I knew Matt felt the same…but then it was time and the next thing I knew I was walking towards him and we were married, walking down the aisle together and then hugging all of our best friends and family outside the church.

From that point on I remember specific moments but the day as a whole was a total whirlwind…in the best way possible.  I remember having ten minutes alone with Matt upstairs at our reception, before we saw everyone, and both of us sort of just staring at each other and feeling so excited to be married…another very special moment.  I remember walking out into the reception and having a “this is your life” moment – friends from all different periods of our life – childhood, college, New York – and they were all together in Austin!  Truly an unreal moment.

I remember cutting the cake and all the sudden feeling very bridal (who knows why cutting the cake felt more bridal than all the other moments) and the next thing I remember is DANCING…lots of dancing.  Dancing with Matt, dancing with friends, dancing with my sister and brother, my mom being twirled and dipped by my boss in New York as my dad stood by laughing and my 85 year old grandmother getting down.  I also remember standing off from the dance floor and just wanting to talk to as many friends as possible.  Matt and I were both overwhelmed so many friends had flown in and we were caught up in a flurry of talking, introducing and also trying to get in a few quality moments of actual conversation.

I remember being told it was time for us to make our exit and actually being shocked so many hours had passed…I then remember Matt and me running through a tunnel of our family and friends, rose petals flying, and seeing everyone one last time.  Then all the sudden it was quiet and just us in the car and I remember thinking that this was probably the most special moment of the whole day.  Later we both remember saying, “Well that was the most amazing and fun wedding we have ever been to…good thing it was ours!”–Margaret
